Thanks for your ongoing friendship and support. Please pray that God would continue to guide our steps and use us in the lives of families who are crying out to Him for help. A Season for Giving 2006 Annual Art Contest and Essay Contest a Success ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- A Season for Giving For those of you who invested in the lives of others through gifts to the Foundation, here are some notes from those we were able to help over this past Holiday season. We smile to hear how God used our gifts to show His love and care. > I really don't know how to express in words how it felt to receive your gift. I try to be strong this time of year but it's hard. I always miss my husband but holidays are tough. . . . God is good and I want to thank you for allowing Him to use you."--Sara W. > "I could have chosen a different path than staying home and homeschooling my children, one that would yield better financial rewards. In the end though, it's the eternal that matters. Thanks so much for contributing to these needs."--Linda S. > "You've helped me to raise my two sons. May our Lord remember and bless you."--Mary Y. > "We really cannot express how much we all appreciate this help in meeting our needs for heat, additional electric costs, and car repairs to get us through this winter. May God bless you abundantly for not only bearing our burdens, but for doing the same for so many other homeschooling families."--Karen S. > "I was clearly impressed with God's care [upon receiving your gift]. The quotes above represent only a fraction of the calls and letters we received from overwhelmed mothers testifying to God's amazing provision and care for their children. Through your generosity and faithful giving, 330 widows and single parents received unexpected Christmas cards containing checks that totaled over $113,000. To God be the glory! 2006 Annual Art Contest and Essay Contest a Success There are many ways to give to the ministry of the Foundation. One of the most creative ways of doing so is by participating in one of the contests sponsored by the Foundation. Our fall contests attracted over 350 contestants, with 200 entries in art and over 150 in the essay competition. Homeschoolers from all across the America demonstrated their talent with entries that focused on a common theme of either "Beginnings" or "Perspectives." The judges were impressed at the quality of work from these young homeschool artists and writers. "Creating with a given theme shows an ability to express for more than the sake of expression," said one judge. "It suggests forethought and careful consideration as well as the ability to expand into new artistic regions." The four contests sponsored by the Foundation in 2006 collectively netted almost $8,000--all of which went to our Special Needs Children's Fund. Thank you so much to all who participated.
