1. Tennessee Dilemma: Superintendent Gets It Wrong

After moving to Hamilton County in September, a Home School Legal
Defense Association member who filed under Tennessee's homeschool
statute was told that her notice of intent was being rejected because
she had not filed it by August 1, 2006.

2. Skating by the Books

At the age of 8, Zachariah Szabo (now 17) decided to teach himself ice
skating. He had begun taking lessons after attending an ice show and
watching the 1994 Winter Olympics on TV, but when his parents could
not afford private coaching, Zachariah had a plan.
