====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== December 21, 2006 Nebraska Christian Home Educators Association (NCHEA) Legislative Day Dear HSLDA members and friends, On January 17, 2007, the Nebraska Christian Home Educators Association (NCHEA) is sponsoring a Legislative Day in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Statehouse. We will meet from noon to 4:30 p.m. in Lincoln to watch hearings, meet senators, and learn about the legislative process. A detailed schedule is included below. Family members of all ages are welcome and the event is free. Please contact NCHEA Legislative Day Coordinator Deb Badeer at dbadeer@fsvmail.net to schedule your meeting with your senator and obtain all of the information you need for the day. NCHEA is taking care of all of the details so that you will be thoroughly prepared to spend a few minutes talking to your senator and have great information to educate your children about the Unicameral. During each session of the Unicameral, NCHEA monitors bills, hearings, and debates that impact your parental rights. We expect more than 900 bills to be introduced this year. It is our goal to work with the NCHEA to educate senators about your inherent right to homeschool and the benefits of homeschooling. This day is important as we work to build relationships with senators and maintain your liberties. I hope you will join us! Sincerely, Michael P. Donnelly, Esq. HSLDA Staff Attorney NCHEA Legislative Day Wednesday, January 17 Lincoln HSLDA and the NCHEA are committed to serving home educators through ongoing relationships with local, state, and national legislators. It's hard to be heard in the midst of a storm. Trying to influence federal legislation is much like yelling to be heard while standing in a fierce wind. Yet when 80,000 voices join together, they become a powerful force that cannot be drowned out. Join HSLDA to be heard above the tempests that threaten homeschool freedoms.
