1. Illinois: Truant Officer 'Checks Up' on Homeschool Family

A truant officer admitted his error in checking up on a member family
after our attorney sent him a letter verifying that they were in
compliance with state law.

2. Michigan: Social Worker Admits Lack of Fourth Amendment Training

When confronted by our attorney, a social worker who was trying to
enter the home of a member family had to admit his lack of training
regarding certain constitutional rights. The admission came despite a
state law that mandates such training.

3. Colorado: College Admission Discrimination Ends for Homeschoolers

After hearing one of our attorneys testify about the remarkable
achievement of homeschooled students, the Colorado Commission on
Higher Education changed a policy that discriminated against
homeschoolers.

9. 'Home School Heartbeat': Marriage and Homeschooling

Sometimes, the challenges of homeschooling can make us forget what's
most important--our marriage. And homeschooling is nearly impossible
without the framework of a strong marriage supporting it. This week,
Michael Farris is joined by his pastor, Joe Holman, to share tips on
keeping marriages healthy. They remind couples to work as a team,
spend time with each other, and focus on relationships over tasks. By
building our marriages, we can strengthen our families and
dramatically improve our homeschool experience.

10. Generation Joshua: Teens Make Difference for Candidates

In the 2006 mid-term elections, approximately 1,000 teens nationwide
were on the campaign trail as a part of HSLDA PAC Student Action
Teams. After visiting tens of thousands of homes, making hundreds of
thousands of phone calls, and spending countless hours waving signs,
the results were clear: The efforts of Generation Joshua members
continue to make a difference.
