====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== October 30, 2006 HSLDA--Your Vote Crucial in Preserving Homeschool Freedom Dear New Hampshire HSLDA members and friends, Election time is fast approaching. This November 7, many state and federal officials are up for re election. Who is elected will determine what freedoms you will keep and what freedoms you will lose. Exercising your right to vote is crucial. The Legislative Action Center described below will help you make informed decisions as you cast your vote. Remember, statistics show approximately only 50% of eligible adults actually register to vote. In any given election only about 50% of registered voters vote (that is 25% of adults)! That means only 13% of adults elect any given candidate. Your vote counts! ACTION: To view the Family Research Council's New Hampshire Legislative Action Center, go to http://capwiz.com/frc/state/main/?state=NH From this site, you can easily access information about races, candidates, and voting in New Hampshire. Contact information is available so that you can personally ask candidates where they stand on specific issues. For more information on New Hampshire candidates and family issues, see the Cornerstone Policy website: http://www.nhcornerstone.org/ In the next few days, this group plans to post voter scorecards so that you can see exactly where your elected officials have stood on important issues in the past. Please help spread the word about these resources for responsible citizenship! Forward this message to your family and friends in New Hampshire so they can also access this valuable resource. A couple of things to keep in mind: > For a legal perspective on what activities churches and pastors are allowed to take part in, check out these resources prepared by Attorney James Bopp: Do's and Don'ts for Political Activities of Pastors: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3379 and Guidelines for Political Activities by Churches and Pastors: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3380 . > For more voter information, see the New Hampshire Secretary of State's Election Division and Voting in New Hampshire websites: http://www.sos.nh.gov/electionsnew.htm and http://www.sos.nh.gov/voting%20in%20new%20hampshire%20new.htm > If you have not yet registered to vote, you may register on November 7, right before you vote. http://www.sos.nh.gov/vote.htm#DEADLINES > Absentee ballots must be submitted to town/city clerks by 5 p.m. on November 6 if in person or by 5 p.m. on November 7 if through the mail. http://www.sos.nh.gov/vote.htm#ABSENTEE Thanks for caring!
