====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== October 27, 2006 Tennessee -- Your Vote Crucial in Preserving Freedom Dear Tennessee HSLDA members and friends, Election time is fast approaching. This November 7 some state and federal officials are up for re-election. Who is elected will determine what freedoms you will keep and what freedoms you will lose. Exercising your right to vote is crucial. The voter guide described below will help you make informed decisions as you cast your vote. Remember statistics show approximately only 50% of eligible adults actually register to vote. In any given election only about 50% of registered voters vote (that is 25% of adults)! That means only takes about 13% of adults to elect any given candidate. Your vote does count! Also remember that the general election ballot will include a very important proposed amendment to the Tennessee Constitution. Voters will be asked to approve a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman. The Family Action Council is promoting awareness of this important ballot measure with a 25-stop bus tour of Tennessee. For more information, please visit http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3432 . Requested Action: Download the Family Research Council's nonpartisan 2006 Federal Election Voter Guide at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3433 . If you have not yet used a voter's guide, you'll be pleased with how easy it is to decide who to vote for by answering the same questions submitted to the candidates and comparing your answers to theirs. Please help spread the word about this new resource for responsible citizenship! Forward this message to your family and friends in Tennessee so they can also utilize this valuable resource.
