====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== October 25, 2006 HSLDA--Your Vote Crucial in Preserving Homeschool Freedom Dear Utah HSLDA members and friends, Election time is fast approaching. This November 7, many state and federal officials are up for re-election. Who is elected will determine what freedoms you will keep and what freedoms you will lose. Exercising your right to vote is crucial. The Legislative Action Center described below will help you make informed decisions as you cast your vote. Remember, statistics show approximately only 50% of eligible adults actually register to vote. In any given election only about 50% of registered voters vote (that is 25% of adults)! That means only 13% of adults elect any given candidate. Your vote counts! ACTION: To view the Family Research Council's Utah Legislative Action Center, go to http://capwiz.com/frc/state/main/?state=UT From this site, you can easily access information about races, candidates, and voting in Utah. Contact information is available so that you can personally ask candidates where they stand on specific issues. Please help spread the word about this resource for responsible citizenship! Forward this message to your family and friends in Utah so they can also access this valuable resource. A couple of things to keep in mind: > For a legal perspective on what activities churches and pastors are allowed to take part in, check out these resources prepared by attorney James Bopp: Do's and Don'ts for Political Activities of Pastors: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3379 and Guidelines for Political Activities by Churches and Pastors: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3380. > For more Utah voter information, see the Utah State Voter information website: http://elections.utah.gov/voterinformation.html > Information on absentee ballots is available here: http://elections.utah.gov/absenteewhat.htm Remember that absentee ballots must be postmarked before and received by the county clerk's office by noon on Election Day. Thanks for caring! Sincerely, Michael P. Donnelly HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Is customer service an art or a science?
