1. Illinois: State's Attorney Backs Down

When the Williamson County State's Attorney declared that Illinois law
allows public school officials to review homeschoolers' curriculum, we
had to set the record straight. He has since backed down from his
erroneous assertion.

2. Parental Consent Required for Special Needs Evaluation

The Federal Department of Education adopted new regulations for
homeschoolers with special needs. The decision represents a victory
for parents' rights won in part by our litigation team.

3. Protecting Your Special Needs Homeschool

HSLDA believes that homeschooling may be the best way to meet most
special learning needs, and we are delighted to assist dedicated

4. Iowa: To Test or Not to Test--That Is the Question

In the Urbandale public school system, officials agreed to send a
letter stating that previous information they had issued concerning
standardized testing was incorrect.

5. Homeschooling thru High School: Sign up for Free Newsletter

HSLDA's High School Coordinators write a monthly email newsletter on

6. PHC: Computer-Related Jobs Available

Patrick Henry College is accepting applications for two
computer-related job openings. A Computer Support Manager is needed to
supervise the college's PC support services. A Database
Administrator/Programmer is also needed. Requirements for both
positions include bachelor's degrees and several years of experience.
