====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== August 31, 2006 New Hampshire--Notice of Intent Reminder Dear HSLDA members: For families under the New Hampshire Home Education statute, it is time to file your annual notice of intent. Home education programs expire each August 1 pursuant to Ed. Reg. 315.04(g). Families must begin each year's home education program by the time public schools in their area start to comply with NHRSA 193:1. The due date for filing your notice is governed by NHRSA 193-A:3 which says: "Any parent commencing a home education program ... shall notify ... within 30 days." While this statute allows you to file your notice up to 30 days after starting your home education program, we recommend you file it sooner, preferably around the time school begins in your area. It is also worth noting that a regulation--which conflicts with the statute--calls for the notice to be filed "on or before the date the home education program will begin." Ed. Reg. 315.04(a) HSLDA will defend any member families who rely on the statute and choose to file up to 30 days after their home education program begins.
