Southern Baptists Seek Support for Public Schools Exodus Building on the success of the past few years, homeschooling advocates are asking their fellow Southern Baptists to continue their efforts to support an exit strategy from public schools by submitting a resolution at upcoming state and regional conventions. Virginia: Culpeper Retracts Remediation Request When standardized test scores showed one member family that their children were learning more than enough to satisfy state law, they were shocked to find that a local public school official disagreed. Dakota: HSLDA Challenges School's Attempt to Impose Deadline A telephone call to the school superintendent's office cleared up the matter: Officials agreed they had no legal basis for requiring homeschoolers to file by a certain date. New Jersey: Investigation Closed after Attorney Call When a social worker cleared a member family of several false allegations, she then tried to investigate the family's homeschool. New Hampshire: Bedford 'Truant' on Curriculum Requirement Apparently unaware of recent changes to state law, a public school official issued a deadline for a homeschooling family to submit their curriculum plans for the year. New Jersey: Berlin Backtracks on State Law 'Requirement' A homeschooling family contacted us when their local public school district unlawfully insisted that they submit an annual notice of intent.
