====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== August 17, 2006 Ohio--Home Education Programs and '08 schools' Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Thousands of Ohio families are getting ready to go back to school--at home--this fall. Parents who educate their children pursuant to Ohio's home education regulations should send a notification of their intent to do so to their public school superintendent. Parents with bachelor's degrees who choose to educate their own children at home in a "non-chartered, non-tax-supported school" ("08 school") must file different paperwork, pursuant to different regulations. We sent an e-lert on August 11 with vital information for parents who operate an 08 school in their own home. If you are an HSLDA member and currently operate an 08 school solely for the benefit of your own children, please contact HSLDA by emailing us at legale@hslda.org. (Please include your name and Home School Legal Defense Association membership number in this email.) This will enable us to communicate directly with our affected members without disturbing other families in Ohio. If you are not currently operating an 08 school for your own children in your own home, just file your notice of intent as usual--but please pray for Christian school administrators across Ohio. The Department of Education has refused to accept paperwork that school administrators are required to file as a matter of law, on the grounds that non-chartered, non-tax-supported schools must use the Department's new form as their official annual "report to parents."
