====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== August 3, 2006 Virginia, D.C.--Sales Tax Holiday Upcoming Dear HSLDA members and friends: This is to remind you that both the state of Virginia and the District of Columbia have declared sales tax holidays to offer some relief to parents as they prepare for a new school year. Virginia's annual 3-day holiday eliminates sales tax on school supplies, clothes, footwear, and baby items beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 4 and ending at midnight on Sunday, August 6. The exemption from the 5 percent sales tax covers each supply item costing $20 or less and each clothing item costing $100 or less.
