-> Can you call your attorney at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning?

Our members can get in touch with their attorney even after

1. Kentucky: Harlan Orders Homeschool Graduate Back to School

A Harlan County family contacted us after being threatened with
truancy charges. Public school officials told the family to enroll
their teenage daughter or face legal action. The greatest shock was
that these officials had willfully ignored the fact that their
daughter had already finished high school.

2. Rocky Transition to Rocky Maine

It took intervention by Home School Legal Defense Association lawyers
to convince an Ohio principal that he no longer had jurisdiction over
homeschoolers who had left the state.

3. Wyoming: Fending Off Social Workers

Home School Legal Defense Association attorneys intervened when rumors
led to the investigation of a Wyoming family. A homeschooling mother
confided to a friend that she was changing her child's curriculum. Not
long afterward she received a call from a state social worker.

4. Minnesota: Mounds View Brings Up the Rear

homeschool families turn in certain records or face the consequences.
The Home School Legal Defense Association stands behind freedom-loving
families that oppose this extra-legal requirement.

5. Vermont: Legislative Flurry

Vermont's law has become oppressive in the amount of paperwork it
demands from homeschooling families. A bill working its way through
the legislature could possibly help correct the problem.

6. New Mexico: April 1 Deadline Approaches

The Home School Legal Defense Association is advising New Mexico
homeschoolers to take great care when attempting to comply with the
state's confusing "registration" law.
