====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== February 13, 2006 Dear HSLDA members and friends: Senator Rich has introduced Senate Bill 172 which would allow homosexuals to adopt children. This is a direct attack on the traditional family. We believe this bill undermines the historical understanding of the family. Consequently, the fundamental right of parents to homeschool could be affected because the right to homeschool is based on the sanctity of the family. Therefore, we urge you to contact two senators on the Children and Families Committee in order to stop this bill before it gains momentum. A hearing on S.B. 172 is scheduled for tomorrow, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. ACTION REQUESTED: Please call Senator Lynn if you are in Volusia County and Senator Campbell if you are in Broward County and give them this message: "Please vote against S.B. 172 in order to protect the historical understanding of the adoption process and to preserve the traditional structure of the family." Do not identify yourself as a homeschooler. You can ask for Senators Lynn and Campbell by calling Legislative Services at 1 (850) 488-4371. Or you can call Senator Lynn's office directly at (850) 487-5033 and Senator Campbell's office directly at (850) 487-5094. Sincerely, Christopher J. Klicka, Esq.
