New York City: Official Mistakenly Threatens Homeschoolers Just before Christmas, the Home School Legal Defense Association learned every homeschool family in Region 7 of the New York City school system had been accused of violating the law. Wisconsin: School District Pressures Special Needs Homeschooler Home School Legal Defense Association Senior Counsel Chris Klicka intervened on behalf of a member family who was being pressured by local school district officials to continue public-service speech therapy for their child. The mother was worried she could face charges of educational neglect. Texas: School District Demands to See Homeschooler's Curriculum A member family contacted the Home School Legal Defense association after the local school district asked to review their daughter's homeschool grades and curriculum. Survey Studies Faith of Homeschoolers As part of her master's degree program, a Michigan homeschooling mother is conducting an online survey to determine how successful homeschooling parents are at passing their faith on to their children. She was inspired to create the survey after learning how little research exists on the subject. She is interested in hearing from homeschooling parents with adult children, and adults who were homeschooled. Generation Joshua--Civics Courses Move to New Online Home Starting next week, the 2006 online civics courses will be available on our website. We have restructured the GenJ courses and moved them to the GenJ website. Students will no longer be required to register for courses and there will be no time limits on any of the courses.
