Wisconsin--Calls Needed in Support of Marriage

Dear HSLDA members and friends:

On December 7, the Wisconsin Senate approved the proposed
constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and Vermont style, "civil

Senator Scott Fitzgerald, stated that the amendment prevents "judges
of the state from creating marriage in another name and granting
identical benefits to unmarried couples." The senate voted 19 to 14 in
favor of the marriage amendment.

beginning of the session in January. If it is passed by the assembly,
the marriage amendment will go to the voters, via a statewide
referendum, in November 2006.

This is good news. Even better news is the fact that Democratic
Governor Doyle does not have the power to veto it because the
amendment goes straight from the assembly to the people.

The proposed amendment states, "Only a marriage between one man and

of step with the citizens, will one day redefine marriage for

-> Who are the nation's best lobbyists?

We don't know that this has ever been determined; but we do know
that HSLDA's National Center for Home Education is the only
national organization lobbying on behalf of homeschoolers on
Capitol Hill.
