Pennsylvania - District Requirements Contrary to State Law At the beginning of this school year, a Home School Legal Defense Association member family contacted our legal department, requesting that we review procedures followed by the Carbondale Area School District for home education programs. North Carolina - Harassment in McDowell County In the middle of September 2005, a McDowell County truant officer contacted a Home School Legal Defense Association member family, insisting that they provide him with a copy of the card issued by the Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE) as proof that they had filed a notice of intent to operate a homeschool. Tennessee - Memphis City Schools Seeks Proof of Parents' Education At the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, Memphis City Schools sent a form letter to parents who had submitted a notice of intent to homeschool, seeking a copy of the parents' high school diploma, high school transcript, college degree, or college transcript to verify teaching qualifications.
