1. Pennsylvania - District Requirements Contrary to State Law

At the beginning of this school year, a Home School Legal Defense
Association member family contacted our legal department, requesting
that we review procedures followed by the Carbondale Area School
District for home education programs.

2. North Carolina - Harassment in McDowell County

In the middle of September 2005, a McDowell County truant officer
contacted a Home School Legal Defense Association member family,
insisting that they provide him with a copy of the card issued by the
Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE) as proof that they had filed a
notice of intent to operate a homeschool.

3. Tennessee - Memphis City Schools Seeks Proof of Parents' Education

At the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, Memphis City Schools
sent a form letter to parents who had submitted a notice of intent to
homeschool, seeking a copy of the parents' high school diploma, high
school transcript, college degree, or college transcript to verify
teaching qualifications.

4. Delaware - Homeschool Category Affects Special Education Services

Several homeschooling families in Delaware have contacted Home School
Legal Defense Association complaining that they can no longer receive
special education services from their local school district.
