There's No Place Like Home Much concern has been expressed by conservative groups across the nation over a recent decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, in San Francisco. In the case of "Fields v. Palmdale School District," Circuit Judge Reinhardt, writing for the court, ruled against the fundamental constitutional right of parents to direct the upbringing and the education of their children. Texas - Case Dismissed Against Homeschool Family The Stone family had their child in public school in Potter County, Texas, but began homeschooling at the beginning of the 2005-06 school year. Consequently, the family did not re-register their child in the public school or enroll him. This led to a court order for the family to appear before a judge. Louisiana - Parish Quickly Changes Position on Special Needs A letter from Ouachita Parish Special Educational Services, addressed to all public school speech therapists in the parish, stated that "Homeschooled students are not eligible to receive any services from the school system, except evaluation and identification."
