====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Maryland--Annual Notice Reminder Dear HSLDA members: If you operate under Maryland's homeschool regulations, this is just a reminder that your annual notice is due before the beginning of the school year. 1. If you are under the umbrella option, your notice goes to your umbrella administrator, following whatever procedure he requests. Most families have already told their umbrella administrator that their student will be in the program again this year, and this completely satisfies the regulation. 2. If you are under the portfolio option, your notice goes to your local superintendent. Your notice does not need to be on any particular form. Unfortunately, school systems often request information beyond the requirements of the law. If you use your school system's form, it's very likely they will ask for more information than the regulations require. To avoid this headache, just send in your own notice. It should contain only your name, your child's name, your address, and state that you plan to continue homeschooling this year. No additional information should be provided. If your school system asks you to provide information to which they are not entitled, please let us know.
