====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== HSLDA is passing on this update from Roy Hanson and Jim Davis of Family Protection Ministries (FPM) on AB 1670. ===================================================================== LEGISLATIVE NEWSFLASH April 27, 2005 AB 1670 (Assembly Members Joe Nation and Keith Richman) was Defeated! We are very grateful to God for this victory. AB 1670, which was jointly authored by a Democrat and a Republican, failed passage in the Assembly Health Committee on Tuesday, April 26th. Thank you for your response to our (FPM's) HELP Tree Alert. Your prayers and the calls you made to your legislators over the past few days made the difference. AB 1670 would have moved all of California toward socialized medicine similar to what was promoted by Hillary Clinton. It would have: 1) destroyed the current system of choices of health care coverage; 2) driven up the cost of both health care and health insurance coverage; 3) forced everyone to participate; 4) reduced the quality of health care; 5) reduced the availability of health care, forcing some families to go out of state to obtain health care for their family members; and 6) created a new government bureaucracy with the authority to make life and death medical decisions. No further action is necessary on AB 1670. AB 1670 would have affected every family and individual in California. "The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord." (Prov. 21:31) We appreciate working closely with FPM on issues of concern to homeschoolers in California. Please show your appreciation for the work of Family Protection Ministries by sending a generous donation to FPM at PO Box 730, Lincoln, CA 95648-0730. All gifts are tax deductible and any gift of $40 or more in a calendar year will ensure receipt of FPM's Legal-Legislative Update newsletter for one year. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> What's the shortest distance between two homeschoolers?
