====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== April 21, 2005 Wyoming--Invite Your Legislator to the Homeschool Convention Dear HSLDA members and friends: The Homeschoolers of Wyoming have invited each Wyoming legislator to a convention leadership luncheon on Friday, May 20, at the 2005 State Convention at the Douglas State Fairgrounds. This would be a great chance for your elected representatives to gain a better understanding of homeschooling in Wyoming. We need your help to persuade them to make the drive to Douglas. Legislators care about the things their constituents care about (or they don't get re-elected). Your personal phone call to your own elected representatives will make it much more likely that they will join you in Douglas this year. Please use HSLDA's Legislative Toolbox to find the names and phone numbers of your own elected representatives and then give them a phone call. Ask whether he or she has already received a letter from Homeschoolers of Wyoming, and explain that the state convention is a wonderful opportunity to meet the homeschool community. If you are going to the convention, or know another homeschooler in your district who is, make the invitation personal. It would be great if a small group of homeschoolers from your district could take your own representative on a tour of the homeschool convention. HSLDA board member Dick Honaker and his wife Shannon will be featured speakers at the convention. The Honakers are long time homeschool leaders and are active in Wyoming politics-exactly the kind of people your legislators need to meet. Just a few years ago, Wyoming homeschoolers were suddenly faced with a barrage of bills which would have diminished homeschool freedom. Fortunately, by working hard and working together, homeschoolers are reversing this trend and having a major impact on legislation. Your phone call today is a real step towards future freedom.
