====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== April 4, 2005 Kansas--Vote to Uphold Marriage on April 5 Dear HSLDA members and friends, Tomorrow, April 5, Kansans can take a stand for the sanctity of marriage by going to the polls and voting "yes" to add the following language to the Kansas constitution: "(a) The marriage contract is to be considered in law as a civil contract. Marriage shall be constituted by one man and one woman only. All other marriages are declared to be contrary to the public policy of this state and are void. "(b) No relationship, other than a marriage, shall be recognized by the state as entitling the parties to the rights or incidents of marriage." Your right to homeschool rests on another freedom: the freedom to direct the education and upbringing of your children. Your parental rights, in turn are supported by the sanctity of marriage. Anything that undermines marriage may ultimately undermine parental rights. Amending the Kansas constitution will protect the concept of marriage from activist state judges. Without this amendment, an activist judge out of step with the citizens will one day redefine marriage for us. HSLDA encourages all our members to go to the polls tomorrow and follow in the footsteps of many other states that have passed similar amendments. Thank you for standing with us for freedom. Sincerely, Scott A. Woodruff HSLDA Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> There may be no such thing as a free lunch...
