New Hampshire--Hearing Tuesday for Bill to Protect Parents' Rights

Dear HSLDA members and friends:

A bill that would give parents the right to request a jury trial if
the government tries to terminate their parental rights is scheduled
for a hearing Tuesday, March 22.

Under current law, a judge makes this decision. While most judges are
fair and reasonable, a few are capricious, vindictive and lack
objectivity. If a parent believes he would not be treated fairly by a
judge, this bill would give him the right to a trial by a jury of
fellow citizens. A jury trial is a valuable protection against
misguided government attacks on family integrity.

If one of them is your representative, please call him and ask him to
support this bill. Your message can be as simple as,

"Please support H.B. 610. Parents' rights deserve protection. It
would allow a jury trial if parents are faced with the termination of
their parental rights."

Since this bill affects everyone, not just homeschoolers, DO NOT
identify yourself as a homeschooler when you call. If you do not know
who your representative is, use our legislative toolbox at
http://www.hslda.org/toolbox .

Thank you for standing with us for freedom.

Sincerely,

Scott Woodruff
