Most homeschools don't need an extreme makeover, but there is
something to be said for attention to detail and recognition of
accomplishments. Watch the media and you'll soon see that not
everyone wants home educators and homeschooling to look good.
HSLDA works hard to shed light on the good work of home educators
so it's obvious that we don't need someone "making-over" our

mental disorders in ALL children.

2. Home School Foundation's Patrick Henry College Scholarship for
HSLDA Members

On February 15th, the Home School Foundation began accepting
scholarship applications from qualifying students for the fall of
2005. This scholarship fund is designed to give financial assistance
to homeschooled students who will be freshmen this fall. Scholarships
are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, participation in
community service, and financial need.

3. Social Workers Harass Homeschoolers in Michigan

Three parents in Michigan recently faced absurd accusations of child
abuse and neglect from aggressive social workers. With HSLDA's help
they were able to protect their families.

4. Director of Pupil Personnel Makes Outrageous Demands

Kentucky - A Home School Legal Defense Association member family in
Grayson County was recently surprised by a home visit by the local
Director of Pupil Personnel (DPP). The DPP demanded that the
homeschooling mother immediately provide all of her records; including
the books she used, her children's schoolwork and the attendance
records.
