Indiana--Update - Raising the Compulsory Attendance Age
Dear HSLDA members and friends:
Calls are no longer needed on House Bill 1530. The bill was amended
in the House Ways and Means Committee, and the sponsors accepted all
the changes that were needed to prevent this bill from negatively
affecting homeschool families. We no longer oppose the bill.
We are grateful to everyone who called their representatives to bring
public attention to the problems the original bill would have created.
We would also like to thank the bill's chief sponsor, Representative
Luke Messer, for responding to our concerns, as well as Representative
Peggy Welch who was very supportive throughout the process. We also
thank Indiana Association of Home Educators for their excellent work
on this bill.
