North Dakota--Calls Needed - To allow Special Needs Children to be
Homeschooled

Dear HSLDA members and friends:

On Tuesday, March 1, 2005, the Senate Education Committee will conduct
a hearing on House Bill 1265. This bill would change North Dakota law
to permit all children with developmental disabilities to be
homeschooled. Your calls are needed right away to members of the
Committee, urging them to vote for this legislation.

House Bill 1265 passed the House of Representatives with a unanimous
vote on January 31, 2005. But this is no assurance that the Senate
will take the same action. Members of the Senate Education Committee
need to hear from you today.

ACTION REQUESTED

1. Please contact all members of the Senate Education Committee:

"Please vote for House Bill 1265. This bill would allow parents to
homeschool their developmentally disabled children as every other
state permits."

The members of the Senate Education Committee are as follows:

Layton Freeborg, Chairman
(701) 442-5712

Gary A. Lee, Vice Chairman
galee@state.nd.us
(701) 234-5191

2. Please forward this email to every homeschooling family you know
who is not a member of HSLDA and urge them to contact members of the
Senate Education Committee.

-> How long are you in for?

Some families are facing what seems like a lifelong commitment to
homeschooling, with children at both ends of the spectrum-some
graduating and some just reaching school age. If you're going to
be "in" for a while, consider a lifetime membership with HSLDA.
It's a good deal for families with more than 10 years of
homeschooling ahead.
