====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== February 4, 2005 Virginia--Homeschool Case Postponed in Franklin County Dear HSLDA members and friends: Although winter weather led to the cancellation of the homeschool court hearing in Rocky Mount, it did not prevent homeschoolers from coming to the Franklin County Library seeking answers to many questions. In fact, one mother had decided just the day before to take her son out of the public school system and homeschool him. The school was not meeting his needs. I was able to supply needed legal counsel to help her begin homeschooling on a sound legal footing. She ended up joining HSLDA so we can help her if she has any problems in the future. The court hearing on the misdemeanor charge against our member was rescheduled for February 25. We are hopeful that we can resolve the problem and have the case dismissed before then, however. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting.
