~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home School Foundation Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May/June 2004 The General Fund becomes the Compassion Fund As a reflection of the expanded mission of our General Fund, the HSF Board of Directors has renamed the General Fund. It's new name is the Compassion Fund. "Compassion" is a word that aptly describes the heart of the Foundation, and also describes the many and varied ways in which monies from the General Fund are used to touch people. Homeschoolers from both national and missionary families in Eastern Europe are brought together and encouraged through the work of Life Work Forum. A homeschooling family of 12 living in the HSLDA community lost their home and their entire curriculum in a fire. HSF gave money to aid in its replacement. The Foundation aided various support groups across the nation, helping them offer scholarships and curriculum aid to needy families in their group. A group in Hawaii is aided in holding a leadership symposium for those acting as a bridge between the homeschool community and state and local governments. This fall HSF is planning to take the work of the Compassion Fund even farther as, through your generosity, we care for the hurting and support the dreams of those in the homeschool community. "Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers..." I Peter 3:8 Chuck Hurst HSF Executive Director Attention: California State Employees The Home School Foundation will be participating in the California State Employee Charitable Campaign this fall. If you are a California state employee, please look for us when you designate your gifts. We are excited about this new opportunity. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Home School Foundation Report is a service of: Home School Foundation P.O.
