====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== June 10, 2004 South Carolina--Driver's License Bill is Dead Dear HSLDA members and friends: Time ran out on the threatening driver's license bill last week when South Carolina's 2004 legislative session ended. Senate Bill 988 is now dead after being sent to the House Ways and Means Committee where it remained when the General Assembly adjourned on June 3. We give thanks to God for His continued protection against laws which would threaten the freedoms of homeschooling families. We had fully anticipated a battle over the Senate version of the bill requiring evaluations of a student's academic progress before a driver's license could be issued. We are most grateful that the session ended before the bill proceeded further. Thanks to all of you who contacted your legislators about this important legislation.
