-> ''I saved my entire membership fee with one discount''

''When I called Liberty to find out what kind of discount we could
get, they told us we would 10% off our car insurance and 5% off
our homeowner's insurance. What we will save is more than double
what it costs to join HSLDA. With one child getting his driver's
license this year, the savings will be a real blessing!''

1. Pocahontas Virtual School Shuts Down

Iowa-The Pocahontas school system has announced it will close its
virtual school program.

......................................................................
2. "Approval" in Medina

Ohio used to have an "approval" law, which gave school officials a
discretionary right to decide who was "good enough" to homeschool.
Fortunately, all that changed in the late 1980's, when Ohio's current
regulations were adopted.

3. Vaccination Bill Wilts Under Pressure

West Virginia-Homeschooling families played a major role in defeating
a bill that would have undermined parental authority over children's
health care.

......................................................................
4. Harrison County Ends Fishing Expedition

After a Home School Legal Defense Association member family moved to
West Virginia and filed their first notice of intent to homeschool, a
public school official ordered them to provide information about how
they homeschooled in their previous home state.

5. Former HSLDA Attorney Defends Traditional Marriage

Jordan Lorence, who served with HSLDA, before moving to the Alliance
Defense Fund has been given the task of arguing for traditional
marriage before the California Supreme Court May 25.

The events in Massachusetts have brought the issue of 'same-sex'
marriage into sharp focus. Christians need to be active on all levels
if marriage is to be saved in America.

6. Home School Heartbeat: Teaching Latin

Nobody speaks it anymore. Why should I teach it to my kids?
