~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home School Foundation Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ March/April 2004 The Generation Joshua Fund "Let us take care of our rights and we therein take care of our prosperity. Slavery is ever preceded by sleep." John Dickinson, General in the Continental Army and signer of the Constitution The Home School Foundation and Home School Legal Defense have a vision to make sure that future generations of homeschoolers clearly understand two important lessons: even now much is at stake and they can make a difference. To communicate these truths, HSLDA and HSF are participating in a joint project called the Generation Joshua Program. Under this program, HSLDA will be focusing its energy on helping students become involved in civic processes, and the Foundation will focus on developing educational materials. To accomplish its part, the Foundation has established the Generation Joshua Fund. Through this Fund, HSF will pay for developing a civics curriculum and other related resources. Our objective for these materials-to provide homeschoolers with an in- depth historical and Biblical perspective of what it means to be a U.S. citizen in the 21st century. Our ultimate goal-to educate generations of "Joshuas" willing to go into our land and stand for what is right. Perhaps some will even take positions of influence and leadership in government. We recognize that this is a long-range project with little immediate return. But we feel challenged to step up and play the role we sense God is calling us to take, to do our part in making America a place where "the people rejoice." The knowledge you have gained through the everyday workings of life as a homeschooling family is a valuable commodity for families who are struggling to persevere in the homeschooling adventure. The Home School Foundation would like to collect your "words of wisdom" concerning lessons learned as a means of encouraging these families and supporting the work of the Foundation. If one or more of your students has graduated from your homeschool high school program, we'd like you to offer some words of inspiration to parents who are just beginning their homeschool journey. You can email your comments (200-300 words in length) to info@hslda.org We will want your permission to quote you in articles and various publications that we use to communicate to your fellow homeschoolers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Home School Foundation Report is a service of: Home School Foundation P.O.
