We have received word that House Bill 560, the homeschool driver education bill, will not be acted upon this year. That is disappointing, but only in the short term. Iowa homeschoolers spent eight years working on this issue, and have finally pushed their homeschool drivers bill through that legislature. The Vermont legislature is still concerned with homeschool freedom, but not quite ready for change this year. The Governor, on the other hand, has been much more receptive. Governor Douglas has proclaimed that the fourth week of April shall henceforth be "Home Education Week," and that the fourth Thursday of every April shall be "Home Education Awareness Day."
