Iowa - Calls Needed - Governor Delays Homeschool Driver's Education
Bill
Dear HSLDA members and friends:
Governor Vilsack still has not signed the homeschool driver education
bill, HF 2394. It was passed overwhelmingly by the senate (36-12)
and the house (67-32) and sent to the Governor over three weeks ago.
We do not know whether he intends to sign it or veto it.
Your calls are urgently needed to help convince him to sign it.
Action Requested:
1. Please call Governor Vilsack at (515) 281-5211, ask him to sign
the bill. Your message may be as simple as:
"Please sign HF 2394. It will allow parents to teach driver education
to their homeschooled children. This is about saving young lives.
Statistics show that lives are saved and accidents prevented when
homeschool parents teach driver's education to their own children."
2. Please ask two people who do not homeschool to call the Governor.
Their message can be as simple as,
"I do not homeschool, but I urge you to sign HF 2394 because it will
help save young lives. Statistics show that tickets, accidents and
fatalities are lower when homeschool parents teach driver education
to their own children. Also, homeschool teens often cannot get into
public school driver ed programs. Please join the House and Senate
in making Iowa roads safer for young drivers."
