====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== April 27, 2004 Louisiana--Homeschool Day at the Capitol Dear HSLDA members and friends: Did you know that tomorrow is "Homeschool Day at the Capitol?" This joint event, sponsored by Christian Home Educators Fellowship of Louisiana (CHEF) and other homeschool groups, is an excellent opportunity to make a good impression on LA legislators. Time: Wednesday, April 28, 2004, beginning at 12:30 PM. Bring: Some homemade goodies for your legislators and their staff members. Place: Meet in the Rotunda. Purpose: 1. To show our elected representatives the face of homeschooling; 2. To thank them for their service to our State and our families; and 3. To encourage them to support homeschool-friendly legislation. Homeschool Day is intended to help legislators and their staff members view Louisiana's homeschoolers in a positive light. We want them to remember us as some of the warmest and most respectful families ever to visit them at the Capitol. Tips: Well-behaved children are very welcome. Dress in business style clothing, as if you were going to church. Feel free to leave a card or note of encouragement with your homemade goodies. You could include your family's names and/or the recipe. Do not address it to a specific person. Parking may be difficult. Allow extra time. There is public parking between the Capitol and the river, and there is on-street parking, all with meters. If you are coming in an extended van, you may stop one of the parking guards and ask for suggestions. Do not park in a space that has a large painted number. These are reserved and you may be ticketed! If you cannot make it to this event, please pass this email to others who may be able to attend. If you can't go, please consider baby- sitting for someone who can! Make this Homeschool Day at the Capitol a field trip your kids will never forget! Sincerely, Scott W.
