====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== April 20, 2004 Indiana--Homeschool Parents Quickly Needed for Governor's Commission Dear Indiana Members and Friends: Parents are quickly needed as a voice for homeschoolers on the Governor's Early Learning and School Readiness Commission. This commission will develop recommendations for state policy on government involvement in the education of young children, including mandatory kindergarten, lowering the age of compulsory attendance, etc. The openings for representatives from Marion and Hamilton counties have already been filled, so we are looking for volunteers from other counties. HSLDA opposes greater government involvement in education. If you are willing to participate on this commission and be a voice for those who believe government should not be more involved in early education, please contact Joyce Johnson (317) 524-3774 immediately.
