New York--Please Call Now to Help Pass Homeschool Freedom Bills!
Dear HSLDA members and friends:
Senate Bill 2060, the Senate version of the Homeschool Freedom Bill,
is on the Senate Education Committee's schedule for Tuesday
afternoon, February 24, 2004. While SB 2060 was approved last year,
your calls to the Committee members listed below are needed to ensure
that this bill is passed by the Committee and through the entire
legislature this year!
Please continue to call the Assembly Education Committee members and
urge them to vote in favor of Assembly Bill 4598, the Assembly
version of the Homeschool Freedom Bill. We have scheduled a meeting
with the Chairman of the Assembly Education Committee, Assemblyman
Steven Sanders, and hope to gain his support to get this bill passed.
Your calls have been instrumental in the progress we have made on
this legislation! Remember, this bill would eliminate over 75% of the
present restrictions governing home instruction programs implemented
since 1988!
REQUESTED ACTION
(1) Please contact as many members of the Senate Education Committee
as possible with this message:
"Please vote for Senate Bill 2060 which will relieve public school
officials and homeschooling parents from burdensome and costly
administrative tasks. Home educators have earned the right to
regulatory relief after demonstrating their success under the current
law for the past 15 years."
