HB 88 is being amended Dear HSLDA members and families: Last week HSLDA's amendment requiring all social workers in Wyoming to be specifically trained in their duty to protect the constitutional and statutory rights of individuals was defeated in a vote of the full House. Because this bill lacked the crucial protection for innocent families under investigation, Rep. Bob Brechtel worked out a new strategy to kill the entire bill. In response to our alert, hundreds of homeschoolers called the state House of Representatives to kill the bill. This got the attention of Rep. Colin Simpson and he was willing to negotiate with HSLDA in regard to a possible amendment to HB 88. After negotiations over the weekend with HSLDA senior counsel Chris Klicka, Rep. Simpson finally agreed to HSLDA's amendments, which require social workers to be specifically trained in their duty to protect the constitutional and statutory rights of families and to tell the allegations to the families at the initial contact. As a result, please discontinue your calls in opposition of HB 88. We are now supporting HB 88 because of Rep. Simpson's promise to make certain our two amendments are included before the House today.
