Update on Assembly Bill 1892-A
Dear HSLDA members and friends:
Your calls worked! Assembly Bill 1892-A has been stopped - at least
for now. We have been in contact with the offices of several
legislators and heard the same thing. Your calls were heard.
According to the legislative aid to Senator Kuhl, the bill has been
taken off the active list and an amendment is being drafted.
At this time, no further action is required. We will continue to
monitor this bill closely and post any changes at
http://www.hslda.org/hs/state/NY/default.asp for your convenience.
Once the bill is amended it would have to pass the entire Senate and
then be sent back to the Assembly, further delaying this bill and
providing more opportunities to stop it should the bill continue to
negatively effect homeschoolers.
This bill demonstrates again how effective your calls can be to your
state legislators. This bill was on the fast track towards becoming
law, when your calls stopped it! With your continued efforts we can
all help stop bad legislation in New York.
