1. HSLDA Senior Counsel Testifies Before Congress

For 20 years, HSLDA has been on the front lines to protect innocent
homeschoolers from being traumatized at the hands of social workers
pursuing anonymous tips. On January 28, Chris Klicka, Senior Counsel
of HSLDA had the chance to inform Congress of this ongoing problem.

2. School Principal Makes Unlawful Request of HSLDA Member Family

Michigan - The principal of Longfellow Elementary in Hazel Park
recently contacted the Klobucher family, an HSLDA member family,
demanding that they complete the school district's Home School Report
form. In his letter, the principal advised the family that failure
to comply could result in truancy or educational neglect proceedings.

3. Infamous School Superintendent Continues to Harass Homeschoolers

Illinios - Last year, Superintendent Bruce Dennison, Regional
Superintendent of Stark, Henry, and Bureau Counties caused much
concern by his aggressive harassment of homeschoolers.

4. Social Worker Harasses Family in the Middle of the Night

Florida - The L family, homeschooling in Debary was awakened at 1:00
a.m. by a social worker at their door, demanding to come in and see
the children.

5. Community College Questions

Massachusetts - A number of HSLDA members have reported surprising
difficulties enrolling their children in community colleges.

6. Religious Exemption Policy: Rocky Start, Good Finish

Virginia - In the wake of a highly publicized local case of suspected
child neglect, on May 7, 2003, the Hanover County School Board
revised its religious exemption policy with no notice to the
homeschool community. As revised, the policy was the harshest in the
state.
