---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- August 11, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, From time to time HSLDA receives notice of studies conducted regarding specific areas of home education. Currently, Laura Shoop, a senior at Carson-Newman College, is writing a research paper on homeschool music education in East Tennessee. The purpose of this project is to study music education trends in selected homeschool communities of East Tennessee. Specifically, Ms. Shoop plans to document how homeschool families in East Tennessee approach music education, advantages and disadvantages of music education within a homeschool environment, and the current role of professional music educators in homeschool music education. East Tennessee counties include: Hamilton, Bardley, Poilk, Meigs, McMinn, Monroe, Rhea, Loudon, Blount, Roane, Cumberland, Morgan, Anderson, Knox, Sevier, Cocke, Jefferson, Grainger, Union, Scott, Campbell, Claiborne, Hancock, Hawkins, Hamblen, Greene, Washington, Unicoi, Sullivan, Carter, and Johnson. All surveys must be collected no later than September 30, 2003.
