---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- August 1, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Wyoming homeschoolers are bracing for next year's legislative season, due to statements made by state senator Katherine Sessions. Senator Sessions introduced three bad bills in 2003, including one to regulate and control homeschooling. She has promised to introduce more homeschool legislation next year. Many of our member families have asked what they can do to defend homeschool liberty next January. One important step is to train teenagers to be effective homeschool lobbyists. Homeschool kids can get our message across better than anyone. Cheryl Nichols of Homeschoolers of Wyoming is working to develop a network of homeschool activists in and around Cheyenne. She has invited Blaine Cochran of Tools for Life, to provide "worldview training" for homeschooling teens. Tools for Life is offering a ten- dollar discount for HSLDA members who attend. The Tools for Life Worldview Camp is scheduled to take place September 17-19, 2003 at the Cheyenne Evangelical Free Church, 7006 N. College Drive, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82009. For local details on this camp, contact Cheryl Nichols at 307-631-6161, or contact Tools for Life directly at 706-340-5739. Another way to prepare for next year's legislative season is to work with the Cheyenne area homeschoolers who are networking for lobbying purposes. If you live in the Cheyenne area or know another homeschooler who does, please contact Becky Vandeberghe at bvandeberghe@surfmk.com. By working together, Wyoming homeschoolers can preserve their liberties next year. Very truly yours, Scott W.
