---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- May 27, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, On April 14, 2003, we wrote you to thank you for your hard work in defending homeschool liberties. In April, House Bill 63 was withdrawn by its sponsor, thanks to the initiative of the Louisiana Home Education Network and the personal advocacy of CHEF's spokeswoman Beryl Amedee. In that email, we urged Louisiana homeschoolers to continue to work on the other dangerous bills in your state. As a result of your action, Senate Bill 460, has also been withdraw by its sponsor. H.B. 63 would have required every person under eighteen to submit "proof that he or she is attending school." S.B. 460 would have required any person under eighteen to submit proof that he or she is attending school, using a form to be prepared by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Your effort made a difference! Each time homeschoolers participate in the political process, you do your part to preserve the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.
