---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- May 14, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, More than half of Nevada's registered homeschoolers live in Clark County. Many families are concerned by reports that Clark County will not accept homeschool notices of intent until August. While homeschoolers across Nevada wonder how Clark County expects to process over three thousand notices at once, there does not seem to be any immediate problem for families in the county. HSLDA and the Nevada Homeschool Network are working on yet another round of homeschool regulations, which the State Board of Education may adopt between now and August. Any change to the regulations will be likely to change the information homeschoolers must turn in. Thus, Clark County's decision to delay accepting new notices may make things much simpler in the long run. We encourage all Nevada homeschool families, not just those in Clark County, to work together to make additional favorable changes to the homeschool regulations.
