1. HHS Report Includes Statistics on State Marriage Tax Policies

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services has released its 2002
report on State Policies to Promote Marriage, including its findings
on state marriage tax policies.

2. IDEA Reauthorization Clarifies Evaluations for Homeschoolers

To force an evaluation of a child even if the parents are not
involved with the government schools and do not want IDEA services is
unacceptable. New IDEA revisions reflect that.

Read more about it at:
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?ID=824

3. UN Rebukes Britain For Failing To Implement Children's Treaty

This report is of grave concern to homeschool families and is an
example of how the UN would seek to have control over United States
domestic policy.

Read more about it at:
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?ID=825

......................................................................
4. Dangerous California Legislation Defeated

Legislation categorizing truancy as child abuse is now dead.

Read more about it at:
http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?ID=826

......................................................................
5. Homeschool College Admissions Bill Moves To Texas Senate

New legislation levels the playing field for home-based private
school graduates.

6. Home School Heartbeat: Preparing Your Children for the Workforce

As you prepare your homeschool student for life, it's important to
consider the skills that he will need once he enters the working
world. Mike Smith provides some ideas on this week's Home School
Heartbeat.
