---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- April 11, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Yesterday the New Hampshire Senate voted "inexpedient to legislate" on Senate Bill 55, which would have raised the compulsory attendance age. This means the bill is now dead. S.B. 55 appeared to have significant momentum coming out of the Senate Education Committee. Yet your calls in opposition came pouring in. This diligence on your part, together with the unfavorable recommendation of the Senate Finance Committee, spelled S.B. 55's death. The final vote was 15 to 8. Thank you for continuing your principled opposition to this attempt to undermine parental rights. Despite the sponsor's efforts to quell opposition by offering to exempt homeschoolers from the negative impact S.B. 55, you did not waver.
