On March 13, 2003, HSLDA General Counsel Michael Farris, argued
before the Vermont Supreme Court that the Vermont Department of
Education was fighting to expand its jurisdiction beyond what the
Legislature had determined.

House Bill 2518 would grant to the State Board of Education more
authority over homeschools than has ever been granted to a state
agency by any other legislature in the nation.
