---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- February 6, 2003 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Due to the efforts of Steve White of the Montana Coalition of Home Educators, the location for the hearing on Senate Bill 276 has been moved to a larger hearing room to accommodate the number of people expected to attend. The hearing will now be conducted in Room 303 of the Capitol, known as the Old Supreme Court Room. It is located on the third floor above the Rotunda. For those planning to either attend or testify at the hearing, a pre- hearing meeting has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Hannaford Baptist Church (830 N. Hannaford Street) in Helena. The church is located one block north of Wendy's Hamburgers on Prospect Avenue. (Prospect is the street you enter Helena, when arriving from the east). Wendy's is across Prospect from McDonalds). Simply turn north at Wendy's and go one block to the church. S.B. 276 would require homeschool students to take state tests adopted by the Montana Board of Public Education. It is crucial in protecting your academic freedoms that your family attend this hearing. We must show the Committee members that home educators oppose this bill. I will be there to testify on behalf of our member families in Montana.
