---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- November 4, 2002 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, We are announcing a rally for all homeschoolers on Thursday, November 7, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. The rally will be at Iglesia Sendero de la Cruz, 63 Alhambra St. (corner of Chile St.) Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. The church is in "La Milla de Oro" or "Zona Bancaria" sector in Hato Rey, behind the Jr. Perez Auto Dealer, which is located at the intersection of Ponce de Leon and Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenues. The rally is being co-sponsored by the coalition to defeat H.P. 3048 made up of homeschooling parents and Home School Legal Defense Association. The purpose of the rally is to organize to strengthen our efforts to defeat H.P. 3048. Michael Smith, the President of HSLDA, will address the audience to declare the benefits that come from the freedom to home educate. He will also be present at the hearing on Wednesday at the Capital. We would like to see every HSLDA member family in Puerto Rico at this rally, as this will give us an opportunity to meet our member families and provide mutual encouragement. Thank you for making phone calls and visiting to your representatives. If you haven't made your phone calls yet, please do so. It is essential that we let the representatives know that we oppose H.P. 3048, and the more phone calls and visits, the better.
