---------------------------------------------------------------------- From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, Thank you for your calls and letters to Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN), urging him oppose the United Nations Convention Against All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. Your quick response has been successful. Last week, HSLDA sent an alert requesting you send letters and calls to Senator Lugar's district office. Since then, we have received confirmation from the Senator's staff that he is firmly against the treaty. Senator Lugar believes CEDAW is flawed and will vote against it if it comes to the Senate floor for a vote this fall. We encourage you to still write to Senator Lugar but alter your letter, thanking him for his commitment to stand against the CEDAW treaty. This positive affirmation from home schoolers will help us build a working relationship with Mr. Lugar in the future.
