1. CEDAW Vote Postponed

Earlier this week we sought your calls to members of the U.S. Senate
Foreign Relations Committee urging a "no" vote. Chairman Joseph Biden
now has rescheduled a vote in committee for Thursday, July 25.

2. Federal Court Holds Social Worker Bound by Fourth Amendment

In an important victory for parents, the Fifth Circuit Court of
Appeals in Texas has ruled that social workers are constrained by the
Fourth Amendment when conducting abuse or neglect investigations.

6. Note to Members: Instructions for Notifying Your School District

In order to avoid submitting information to the state about your home
school that is not required by law, members should consider using
HSLDA home school notification forms. These forms have been carefully
designed by the HSLDA legal staff to satisfy the law without
jeopardizing your statutory rights and privacy.
